Anti-Wrinkle Injections

What are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

Anti-Wrinkle Injections cause relaxation of the muscles of the face in order to smooth out, and prevent formation of wrinkles. The injections contain Botulinum Toxin Type A, commonly referred to as ‘Botox’.

What does the procedure involve?

The procedure takes around 10 minutes, where the treatment areas of your choice are injected with a small needle. The procedure is relatively painless.

Which areas can be treated?

  • Forehead
  • Crows Feet
  • Frown lines (between the eyebrows)
  • Smokers Lines
  • Bunny Lines
  • Neck (Platysma bands or trunk lines)

Commonly referred to as ‘Botox’, our anti-wrinkle injections cause the treated muscles to relax. This allows wrinkles to appear smoothed out, and will delay progression.

Appointment Length: 30 Minutes
Duration of Results: 3 – 4 Months

8 Point Liquid Facelift

Our non-surgical liquid facelift is achieved using facial injections. It targets the sagging of the facial skin, restoring the volume lost by ageing.

How does the liquid facelift work? As we get older, we begin to lose the structural proteins and volume in our face. This causes the face to sag, giving an overall older appearance. By replacing this volume with a range of products, we can rejuvenate the face which will give an overall lifted and more youthful appearance.

What does the procedure involve? The procedure takes around 10 minutes, where specific points of your face are injected with a small needle. The procedure is relatively painless.

What particular parts of the face are targeted?

  • Loss of volume in the cheeks
  • Loss of volume in the temples
  • Jowly chin
  • Saggy mouth

Appointment Length: 30 Minutes
Duration of Results: 12 – 15 Months

What is the Tear Trough ?

The tear trough is the area between your eye and your cheek. As we get older this area becomes deeper and more shadowed. This is a normal process of ageing, however it can give us a tired, unrefreshed appearance.

How is tear trough rejuvenation achieved?

The tear trough is injected using a hyaluronic acid dermal filler, to restore volume and hydration.

We are also able to use PRP treatment as a more nature way of treating the tear trough.

What does the procedure involve?

The procedure takes around 10 minutes, where the tear trough is injected with a small needle.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP as it is more commonly known, has been used increasingly in aesthetic medicine for the past few years. Platelets form one of the cellular components of blood and they contain a high content of “growth factors” – proteins that help to heal injured tissue or damaged skin.

The theory is, by placing platelets in tissues that require repair and regeneration, this will lead to the repair and regeneration of these tissues. Aged tissues will be rejuvenated as part of this process.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, also known as the ‘Vampire Facelift’ or ‘Dracula Therapy’ works on the basis that the body’s own natural healing powers may slow and even reverse the ageing process.

Treatments with PRP

  • Facial skin regeneration
  • Under eye circles
  • Improvement of acne scarring
  • Hair loss and balding

What does the treatment involve?

The treatment involves harvesting platelets from the patient’s own blood in order to inject them into problem skin areas, starting with the extraction of a minimal amount of the patient’s blood.

This is then placed in a centrifuge to spin down the blood which separates the red blood cells from the platelet rich plasma.  Upon re-injection the platelets release their growth factors which trigger surrounding cells to proliferate, in turn stimulating repair, increasing volume and rejuvenating the skin.

What can PRP treat?

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy can be used to treat numerous cosmetic problems, such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles or  mild drooping or sagging skin around the eyes, mouth and cheeks.
  • Dark under eye circles
  • To improve the appearance of dehydrated or mildly sagging skin on the face, backs of the hands, on the tops of the feet, elbows and knees. It can be used all over the body.
  • To treat acne scarring
  • To improve hair growth, especially in balding men

How many treatments will I require?

Generally, you need three treatments over a three month period. This can then be maintained by having a top-up treatment every 6 – 12 months.

Hair Loss Treatments

What hair loss treatments do we offer?

  • PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)*
  • Hair transplantation**

** For hair transplants, Consultation only available at The MediSpa

What does PRP treatment for hair loss involve?

PRP therapy is used in hair restoration for natural looking results. With a thin needle, your own Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is injected into the scalp. Then the growth factors in your blood cells do their job and hair growth is naturally stimulated.

Who can be treated?

PRP therapy is available as a hair loss treatment for both male and female hair loss.

PRP therapy is effective in treating pattern baldness, receding hairlines and even Alopecia.

What is the evidence behind PRP for hair loss?

A 2015 study ‘The Effect of Platelet-Rich Plasma in Hair Regrowth: A Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial’  showed a mean increase in total hair density of 45.9 hairs per cm2 after 3 treatment cycles of PRP.

Another study ‘Study of Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections in the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia Through an One-Year Period’  conducted in 2014, showed a significant increase rate in hair density from 143 hairs/cm2 to 170 hair/cm2 (an increase in density of 19%).

Chemical Skin Peels

Chemical Peels are a solution applied to the skin to remove the outer, damaged layer of skin, and to stimulate cell rejuvenation and collagen production. This allows a new, healthier layer of skin to develop underneath, giving a fresh and youthful appearance.

Types of Chemical Peels

There are 2 types of peels which we use at AboutSkin Clinic:

  • Glycolic Skin Peels
  • TCA Skin Peels

Glycolic skin peels are a superficial skin peel, they penetrate beneath the skin surface to exfoliate the outer layers, and stimulate cell growth. They are used for skin rejuvenation, to give a fresh and youthful appearance. They are the mildest of the skin peels we provide.

TCA skin peels work on the deeper layers of the skin. They are stronger than glycolic skin peels and are intended for treatment of sun damage, scarring, hyperpigmentation and more damaged skin.

What does the procedure involve?

First you will attend one of your free consultations where we will assess your skin and discuss a personalised treatment plan.

TCA peels require at least 4 weeks of skin prep with recommended products.

What problems do peels treat?

  • Sun Damage
  • Acne scarring
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Tired looking skin

The actual procedure takes around 15 minutes, where the chemical is applied to the treatment areas for a set amount of time. You will need to apply SPF50 suncream twice a day for 4 weeks after the procedure.
