What Causes Age Spots and Pigmentation?
There are different types of pigmentation, the common ones being melasma, sunspots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Melasma is believed to be caused by hormonal changes and can develop during pregnancy or hormonal fluctuations. Most commonly Melasma appears across the nose and cheeks in the shape of a butterfly.

Sunspots, or liver spots, or solar lentigines, are very common. They appear when the melanocytes (pigment-producing cells) start to permanently produce pigment due to the damage caused by repeated sun exposure that builds up over time.
Generally, they appear as spots on areas most commonly exposed to the sun, like the hands, face, and chest.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a result of injury or inflammation of the skin. A common cause of this is acne.

As we age our veins are not as efficient at returning blood to the heart & lungs. The blood then ‘sits’ in the veins causing them to become permanently enlarged and visible.

Facial Redness
Using non-invasive laser energy, LIMELIGHT heats the blood in the tiny blood vessels causing them to coagulate. Your body then sees the targeted vein as a foreign “object” and your immune system will then break down and absorb the vein, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.
Immediately after treatment, the vein will either disappear or go darker until it’s reabsorbed.
Improving Skin Tone & Firming
The laser energy stimulates the natural healing process in the skin encouraging additional collagen production. This provides a light overall skin-firming & toning effect.
